About a year ago, I began a process that I see as the road up to the next level for my business, the E-Myth Mastery Impact! program. This has been an experience like no other I’ve ever had! Each week my husband, Roger, was asked by his E-Myth coach to provide a "Good E-Myth Story". This always sounded simple enough but at times Roger found this to be a challenging task. As I think back on this year-long program and all that has happened, I feel there is one more "Good E-Myth Story" to tell and that is My Good E-Myth Story.
You see, Roger has been an agent for Farm Bureau Financial Services for the past 16 years. In the 16 years as an agent, an opportunity to learn how to become a business owner had never been presented, nor had we really thought of it as "our" business. But that all changed when we were invited to attend and participate in the E-Myth Mastery Program.
As we listened to E-Myth and Farm Bureau representatives outline the program, it seemed a bit overwhelming. One hour a day, a workbook assignment, an hour long coaching call each week, an expense deducted from his commission and this was going to last a year? How would he do it and make a living too?
As we sat together that evening and revisited the presentations of the day, it was apparent that Roger "had" to participate. We knew that it was an opportunity that may not come around again and although it would take time and some extra effort, it was time to move in a new direction. Roger had come to a fork in the road with his business, and it was time to make a decision to travel down a new path.
The first weeks or so were somewhat challenging as Roger was asked to write his Primary Aim and Strategic Objectives. After some quiet evenings with a yellow notepad and several drafts, he was able to complete the assignment. In the early morning hours, as we sat sipping our coffee and gathering our thoughts for the day, he asked me to listen as he read to me his Primary Aim. He read aloud the scribbled words on the page and as he did, I could tell by the quiver in his voice, they were not just words, he was committing himself to the challenge and to the change. I knew then, we were headed in a new direction.
At first, I was not a participant in the coaching calls but was assisting Roger as a Sales Associate and managing the marketing programs. It soon became apparent this was going to take a team effort to accomplish the goals that had been set by Roger in his Strategic Objectives. I joined in the program assisting with the assignments and participating in the weekly coaching calls.
In April of 2007, we were presented with an opportunity by our District Manager to move into our own location. As we made plans to move and prepared our budget, we turned to our E-Myth modules and our coach, to assist us with this daunting task. These modules became our "guidebook" and our coach became "our guide" as we organized our company structure and hired and acquired new staff. It seemed that with each new hurdle we were faced with, in developing our business, there was a module to guide us. So much so, that at one point, Roger joked with our coach and asked if there was a module that told how to make a million dollars, cause he wanted to get to that module next.
In August we were met with our first "test" when an associate that had worked for Roger the past 3 years was not "buying in" to our new concepts. We worked diligently in bringing her along and with the assistance of coaching; we began to put systems in place that made her accountable for her work. As a result, she began to withdraw and eventually made the decision to seek another job. When she was confronted as to why she was leaving, the reason that she stated was "Roger has changed". Roger took this as a real compliment. Yes, Roger had changed and it was a good change. He had begun to vision his agency as a business and not just a job. It put an exclamation point on the E-Myth journey he had committed himself too just a few months earlier.
As the year came to a close and we took a good look back, we couldn't believe what had happened. Would it have happened without E-Myth, maybe, but we certainly feel had we not made the decision to participate in this worthwhile program and move in a different direction we probably wouldn't have enjoyed such a rewarding and successful year. Not only did we enjoy success in production numbers but in knowing that we now had a "road map" to guide us down this new found path.
The best part of my "Good E-Myth Story" is that for the first time in 16 years as an agent for Farm Bureau Financial Services, Roger has earned the highest achievement by qualifying for the All American and Super All-American trip in April. We're both looking forward to enjoying the rewards of his achievements.
In closing, we'd like to say thank you to our coach. His passion for wanting to help others in making positive changes was evident each week in his coaching calls. He was the guiding force in helping us achieve just that, a positive change for our future. Thank you to our coach. Roger & I truly appreciate all your hard work!

I am writing this letter to express my deep appreciation for the hard work and investment of time from yourself and your consulting company in guiding us into the next level of growth that we had only dreamed about for many years.
I remember the first contact letter that your company had sent out and how it described our company exactly. I remember thinking maybe someone else had the training and expertise that we seemed to be lacking. We are a 2nd generation home building company and I had over 25 year's personal experience.

This huge growth is only possible through the systematic planning that we learned and built through the E-Myth program. This was after only completing the first module of the program and believe it or not the next module is about growing your business!!
I would recommend this program, and the people at E-Myth Iowa, now E-Myth Benchmark, to anyone who passionately wants their business to be successful. There are no easy ways or shortcuts to build a quality business other than to do the hard work and preparation that is required.
